The header on this page is a perfect example of what NOT to do. A revolving image is distracting and for some computers it may take a little longer to load. Even though the colors red and black are representative of a tuxedo in my perspective, doesn’t mean that message will be conveyed to my visitors.

There are exceptions to the rule however. As you see here I’m using it as an example, but your header may be what you want to catch the readers attention and direct them “downward” to your content.
